Nepali Reading Passage

Read the passage carefully to understand the story about a woman who helps with household work. This story introduces everyday vocabulary and common sentence structures used in daily Nepali conversations.

तिनको नाम माइम् हो । हामी तिनलाई दिदी भन्छौँ । तिनी हामीलाई घरको काममा मदत गर्छिन् । तिनी बिहान नौ बजे हाम्रो घरमा आउँछिन् । तिनी सधैं आउँदिनन् । तिनी हप्तामा पाँच दिन आउँछिन् । हाम्रो घरमा आएपछि तिनी कोठामा कुचो लगाउँछिन् ।

तिनी घरको भुइँ पुछेर सफा गर्छिन् । तिनी लुगा धुन्छिन् । तिनी छोराछोरीको हेरविचार पनि गर्छिन्। त्यसपछि तिनी हातमुख राम्ररी धोएर तरकारी धुन्छिन् । तिनी चामल केलाउँछिन्। तिनी मिठो दालभात पकाउँछिन्। हामी दिउँसो एक बजे खाना खान्छौँ। हामी दालभातसँग उमालेको पानी खान्छौँ। मेरो श्रीमान्लाई दालभात एकदम मनपर्छ। उहाँलाई मात्र होइन मलाई पनि दालभात मनपर्छ। हामी दालभात मात्र होइन, रोटी तरकारी पनि खान्छौँ।

दिदी खाना खाइसकेपछि भाँडा माझ्छिन्। तिनी कोठा सफा गर्छिन् र सुकेको लुगामा इस्त्री गर्छिन्। तिनी कहिलेकाहीँ झ्यालका ऐनाहरू पुछ्छिन्।

शनिबार र आइतबार दिदी आउँदिनन्। ती दिनहरूमा हामी धेरै काम गर्छौँ। अलिअलि काम मेरा श्रीमान् गर्छन् र अलिअलि काम म गर्छु। शनिबार र आइतबार हामी किनमेल गर्न जान्छौँ। हाम्रो डेरा नजिक सानासाना पसलहरू मात्र छन्। त्यसकारण हामी शहरमा गएर फलफूल र अरू धेरै चीजबिज किन्छौँ। शहरमा राम्रा–राम्रा सस्ता–महँगा चीजबिजहरू पाइन्छन्।

हिजो दिदी आइनन्। त्यसकारण हामीले घरको काम गर्यौँ। हामीले हिजै खाना पकायौँ। हामीले दालभात पकाएनौँ। मेरो श्रीमान् नेपाली सिक्न जानुभयो तर म सिक्न गइनँ। मैले छोराछोरीको हेरविचार गरेँ। स्कुलबाट आएर श्रीमान्ले मलाई खाना पकाउन मदत गर्नुभयो।
