Janu and lanu

“Jānu” means “to go”, while “lānu” implies taking something along with you or bringing.

“Jānu” simply refers to the act of going somewhere.

Examples: I am going to Kathmandu.

English: I go to school every day.
Romanized: Ma hāmīsha bidhyālaya jāchu.
Nepali: म हामेशा विद्यालय जान्छु।

English: He is going to the market.
Romanized: U bajar jādai chha.
Nepali: ऊ बजार जाँदैछ।

“Lānu” means to take (something/someone) along when going or to bring it.

Examples:I am taking the book to Kathmandu.

English: I take my bag to school.
Romanized: Ma jhola skul lānchu.
Nepali: म झोला स्कूल लान्छु।

English: He took his sister to the market.
Romanized: Usle didīlāī bajar lagyo.
Nepali: उसले दिदीलाई बजार लग्यो।
