Lesson Goals
Understand the meaning of छ (Cha) and छैन (Chhaina).
Know when to use तपाईं (Tapāī̃) and तिमी (Timī).

Part 1 – छ (Cha)

Meaning: is, are, am, there is (depends on the sentence)

Used for:

  • Descriptions
  • Locations
  • Existence
  • Conditions

यो राम्रो छ।Yo ramro cha.This is good.

Part 2 – छैन (Chhaina)

Meaning: is not / are not / there isn’t

ऊ घरमा छ।ऊ घरमा छैन।He/She is (not) at home.

Part 3 – तपाईं vs तिमी

Part 4 – तपाईंलाई (Tapailai)

Formula: तपाईं + लाई = तपाईंलाई (to you)

Casual: तिमी + लाई = तिमीलाई

Part 5 – तपाईंको (Tapaiko)

Formula: तपाईं + को = तपाईंको (your)

Casual: तिम्रो (not तिमीको)
